“I appreciated his punctuality and the way he explains things, and how he answered my questions about facial balancing. I was very happy with the treatment.”
Face and body
Cosmetic surgery in Merida, Mexico
Facial and body cosmetic procedures performed by Dr. José Antonio Orozco Gómez, plastic surgeon board-certified by the CMCPER. From the endoscopic facelift with deep-plane repositioning to in-office injectables, with the same principle throughout: results that look natural and hold up over time.
The endoscopic facelift: the signature technique
The endoscopic facelift repositions the deep muscular planes of the face through incisions of roughly one centimetre, hidden in the hairline and guided by camera. It is the procedure in which Dr. Orozco has a distinctive technique, and this is how he describes it:
“It is a modern, current approach to facial lifting that repositions the deep muscular planes of the face without leaving large scars. It is done using a camera, with approaches or incisions of approximately one centimetre, hidden in the hair.”
How it differs from a traditional facelift
| Traditional facelift | Endoscopic facelift | |
|---|---|---|
| Incisions | Around the ear and into the scalp | Approximately 1 cm, hidden in the hairline |
| What is repositioned | Skin and SMAS | Deep muscular planes |
| Appearance | Can look tight if done poorly | Repositions without pulling on skin |
| Recovery | Longer | Shorter |
| Indication | Advanced laxity | Mild to moderate laxity, mid and upper face |
They are not rival procedures — they are different indications. For advanced laxity the traditional technique remains correct, and sometimes the two are combined.
Facial procedures
Blepharoplasty
Removes excess skin and fat pads from the upper and lower eyelids. It has one of the best ratios of discreet scarring to change in expression: it corrects a tired look without altering your features.
Neck treatment
Corrects laxity and platysmal bands, with or without submental liposuction. Frequently combined with a facelift, because a rejuvenated face above an aged neck gives the surgery away.
Facial balancing
Adjusting proportions with fillers, collagen biostimulators or surgery depending on the case: chin, jawline, cheeks, folds. The criterion is the proportion of the whole face, not filling an isolated area.
Other facial procedures
Otoplasty (prominent ears), buccal fat removal, jawline definition, submental liposuction, facial fat grafting with your own fat.
Injectables and aesthetic medicine
In-office procedures, no operating theatre and no downtime, performed by the surgeon himself.
| Treatment | For what | Approximate duration |
|---|---|---|
| Botulinum toxin | Expression lines: forehead, glabella, crow's feet | 4–6 months |
| Hyaluronic acid | Volume, folds, lips, contour | 9–18 months depending on area and product |
| Collagen biostimulators (Sculptra, Ellansé, Radiesse) | Stimulate your own collagen; improve skin quality | 12–24 months |
| Facial fat grafting | Your own fat placed in the face | Partially permanent |
Injectables do not replace surgery when the excess is skin. Filling a lax face makes it heavier, not younger. That judgement is made in consultation, and sometimes the honest answer is that it is not time to operate yet — or that filler is no longer the solution.
Body contouring
Aesthetic body contouring has its own detailed pages:
- Liposuction — localised fat, high definition.
- Abdominoplasty — excess skin and muscle repair.
- Breast augmentation — breast volume and shape.
Mommy makeover
Breast and abdominal surgery combined in a single procedure, for patients who want to address post-pregnancy changes with one anaesthetic and one recovery. Assessed with internal medicine and cardiology: the limit is safe operating time.
Surgery after massive weight loss
Significant weight loss leaves excess skin on the abdomen, arms, thighs and breasts. It is addressed in stages, with a plan of several procedures spaced apart and nutritional assessment beforehand: operating on a patient with protein deficiency compromises healing.

“A very detailed explanation of the treatment and excellent bedside manner. An excellent surgeon.”
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery?
Plastic surgery is the full medical specialty and covers two branches: cosmetic, which modifies healthy structures to improve appearance, and reconstructive, which restores form and function lost to disease, trauma or congenital difference. Every certified cosmetic surgeon is a plastic surgeon; not everyone offering cosmetic procedures is.
What is the right age for a facelift?
Age does not decide it — the degree of laxity and skin quality do. Some patients at 45 have a clear indication and some at 60 still do better with a less invasive approach. The consultation determines whether the case calls for an endoscopic facelift, a traditional facelift, or non-surgical treatment.
How long is recovery after an endoscopic facelift?
Swelling and bruising settle in two to three weeks, and most patients return to social life between days 12 and 15. The result matures at around three months.
Does the same doctor perform the injectables?
Yes. Botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid and biostimulators are administered by the plastic surgeon himself in the clinic. The facial anatomy needed to operate that region is the same anatomy needed to inject it safely.
Can several cosmetic procedures be combined?
Yes, and often it is the better option: one anaesthetic, one recovery, one period off. The combination is decided in consultation based on safe operating time and your general health.
How is the cost of a cosmetic procedure set?
It is set at your consultation, case by case, based on the procedure, its complexity, operating time, the hospital, the anaesthesia team and the follow-up included. You leave with a written, itemised quote.
