Plastic surgery in Merida, Mexico for international patients

If you live outside Mexico, the whole process is coordinated so you make one trip: a video consultation from home, pre-operative testing in your own city, and a single stay in Merida covering surgery and the first follow-up visits. Care available in English, Spanish and French.

Why Merida

Merida has some of the strongest private hospital infrastructure in southeastern Mexico and is consistently ranked among the safest cities in the country. Procedures are performed at Hospital Faro del Mayab (Christus Muguerza), with standards and equipment comparable to a North American or European private hospital.

For a travelling patient that means three concrete things: a hospital able to manage a complication if one arises, direct flights from several North American cities, and a setting where recovery can happen calmly.

Door to door

Door-to-door support

For patients travelling from Canada, coordination is handled through a local partner who manages the entire trip. This is not an agency that sells a package and disappears: someone accompanies you.

What the coordination covers

  • Initial contact and questions answered in French or English, in your time zone.
  • Coordinating your remote assessment with Dr. Orozco.
  • Organising travel: flights, transfers and accommodation in Merida.
  • In-person accompaniment throughout your stay — to the clinic, the hospital, the follow-up visits.
  • Post-operative follow-up on your return.
  • Administrative management of the whole process.

The procedures available this way are exactly the ones Dr. Orozco performs for any patient. There is no separate list and no separate standard.

How to reach the coordination team

Travel support from Canada is operated by Voyage Médical Plus, based in Val-des-Sources, Quebec. They are available Monday to Friday 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.–3 p.m., Eastern Time.

Step by step

How the process works

  1. First contact

Write by WhatsApp, email or the form, in whichever language you prefer. Tell us what you are interested in; first questions are answered at no cost.

  2. Video consultation

An online consultation with Dr. Orozco, with electronic prescription where applicable. Your case is reviewed, options are defined and you are told what is achievable. You receive a plan and a written quote.

  3. Pre-operative testing at home

Laboratory and imaging studies are done where you live and sent for review. If anything is out of range, it is corrected before you buy a ticket.

  4. Scheduling the trip

The surgery date is set and the stay is organised, calculated to cover surgery and the follow-up visits needed before you can fly home.

  5. Your stay in Merida

In-person confirmation consultation, surgery in hospital, and post-operative reviews. Support is in person throughout.

  6. Follow-up from home

Once back in your country, follow-up continues by video consultation with the surgeon and, for patients in Quebec, with local follow-up through the coordination partner.

How long do I need to stay in Merida?

As a general guide: 7 to 10 days for facial or breast surgery, and 10 to 14 days for body contouring. What sets your return date is not the calendar but medical clearance to fly, which depends on thrombosis risk and each patient's recovery.

A return flight is never booked before the visit that authorises it.

Form for international patients

This form reaches the coordination team in Quebec, not the clinic: they are the people who organise the trip and who answer in French and English. On submit, your email program opens with the message already written.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Can my first assessment be done from my own country?

Yes. A video consultation with electronic prescription lets your case be reviewed, options defined and a written quote issued before you buy a ticket. The in-person assessment happens in Merida, days before surgery.

How long should I stay after surgery?

Between 7 and 14 days depending on the procedure. The return date is authorised at a post-operative visit rather than fixed in advance: flying too early increases the risk of thrombosis.

What happens if I have a complication once I am home?

Follow-up continues by video consultation with Dr. Orozco, and patients in Quebec have local in-person follow-up through the coordination team. Before you travel you receive a written plan for what to do and whom to contact in each scenario.

How do I verify the credentials of the surgeon from abroad?

The numbers are public and searchable online: medical licence 8436960 and specialty licence 14126757 in the Registro Nacional de Profesionistas (SEP) of Mexico, and certification 2541 in the directory of the Mexican Board of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Are the procedures the same as for local patients?

Exactly the same, with the same surgeon, the same hospital and the same medical team. What changes is the logistics, not the medicine.

Do you accept insurance?

No. The practice is private. Cash, credit and debit cards and bank transfer are accepted; PayPal for video consultations.
